Workshops

Flip Theatre offers a range of workshops to address many of the key mental health issues affecting children and young adults in an ever-changing and often confusing world. By reaching many participants in one go, our workshops are a cost and time effective way of looking after students' social wellbeing in a creative and non-confrontational manner. Our 5-week workshop course can cost as little as £3 per child per week

Life Skills & Mental Health

Tools to develop RESILIENCE and look after mental health

What: Helping children become masters of their minds, we use CBT techniques, highly engaging drama exercises, tailored role-play and games, to explore why and how common it is to feel anxious as well as ways to understand and develop resilience, alongside the 5 ways to wellbeing’ as promoted by the NHS and Mind UK. On completion of the course, participants receive a certificate to recognise their participation and achievements. 

Key elements include:

  • Exploring how to apply the five ways to well-being in real-life situations

  • Understanding and developing resilience skills including connecting with others, building confidence, positive thinking, raising self-esteem, recognising self-worth and speaking out

  • Learning how to regulate emotions and manage our behaviour

  • Understanding anxiety and how to manage it

Who: Reception, Key Stages 1 & 2, Secondary, youth centres and appropriate venues. The workshops can be tailored to suit your specific needs.

How is it delivered?: We can reach approximately 200 children and 12 teachers per day ensuring that it is a whole school experience or work with groups of your choice. Our courses can run for up to 5 weeks, 1 day a week.

Life Skills
Anti-Bullying

Dedicated to children's HAPPINESS using the strengths of your school

What: Interactive anti bullying workshops focusing on the positive elements of your school and students, conducted in line with the National Anti Bullying Alliance's theme of the year. 

Key elements include:

  • A clear demonstration of what bullying is and ISN'T so pupils know when to ask for help

  • Resilience tools for children practiced through role-play so they can feel confident in challenging situations

  • Developing an understanding of why bullies bully and focusing on how we can help those who are suffering, including the bully

  • Teacher pack to support teachers in dealing with bullying 

Who: Reception, Key Stages 1 & 2 and Secondary. This course can be run with whole classes or selected groups. Tailored to your school's timetable, we can reach up to 150 children per school day. Special arrangements can be made for whole school experiences.

How is it delivered? Multiple, single or half days. Our courses can run for up to 5 weeks, 1 day a week. Schedule examples available on request. Tailored to your school's needs. 

Anti Bullying
School Transitioning

Supporting children's wellbeing during times of educational CHANGE

 

What: Engaging workshops using drama, games and role-play to ease anxiety, equipping them with self-management tools to mentally prepare children moving from primary to secondary school. By helping students understand what they can expect in their new environment, we can support a more confident and successful step up to senior school.

Key elements include:

  • Exploring the differences between primary and secondary school through engaging role-play

  • Looking at challenging scenarios that young people may face in secondary school and discussing how to best overcome these

  • Encouraging peer support between those moving to the same school 

  • Building confidence and self-esteem by teaching anxiety management techniques and encouraging positive thinking

  • Exploring first impressions and demonstrating the importance of good behaviour 

  • Understanding how we can recognise a potentially bad decision in order to make the right choice

Who: Years 6 & 7. Tailored to your school's timetable, we can reach up to 150 children per school day. 

How is it delivered?: Workshops are available as a course or as single days. Our courses can run for up to 5 weeks, 1 day a week. The option of working in partnership with your local schools is also available.

Anger Management

Increasing EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE and awareness.

What: Our anger management course is a cost-effective intervention teaching children to recognise the signs of building anger and teaches them techniques to be able to calm themselves down. It gives them the opportunity to practice real life situations through guided role-play.  The course looks at why we experience anger, how it can escalate and how it can be a useful emotion when used in the correct way. 

Key elements include:

  • Exploring triggers to anger

  • Self-calming techniques

  • Understanding anger as an emotion through role-play

  • Tools to prevent mental health issues developing 

  • Exercises to build confidence in managing emotions

  • Methods to increase focus in class

  • How to reduce conflict between peers

Who: Key Stages 1 & 2 and Secondary. This course can be run with whole classes or selected groups. Tailored to your school's timetable, we can reach up to 150 children per school day. Special arrangements can be made for whole school experiences.

How is it delivered?: A pre workshop consultation is included to ensure the best delivery option to suit your school and pupils. Our courses can run for up to 5 weeks, 1 day a week.
